🌿 Ficus Lyrata (Fiddle-Leaf Fig) Care – Overview

This plant is a true feast for the eyes, but it is considered a bit of a diva if its needs are not met. It is excellent for plant lovers who already have some intuition for the right location and watering rhythm.

🌱 Growth

  • grows upright and tree-like in height

  • can reach impressive heights of 2 to 3 meters indoors

  • often only branches out after targeted pruning

  • contributes to an architectural and vibrant appearance.

🍃 Leaves

  • huge, leathery, and slightly wavy

  • dark green with strongly pronounced, light veins

  • fiddle-shaped, wider at the tip than at the base

  • The large leaves catch a lot of dust and need to be wiped regularly.

💧 Watering / Water

Unlike plants that always want to be moist, the Fiddle-Leaf Fig needs time to breathe.

  • allow the top layer of soil (approx. 3–5 cm) to dry out well between waterings

  • avoid both completely dry root balls and "wet feet"

  • best to water thoroughly with room-temperature water

  • Waterlogging very quickly leads to root rot and leaf drop in the Fiddle-Leaf Fig.

🌼 Fertilizing

  • from spring to autumn: every 2 to 4 weeks

  • high-quality liquid green plant fertilizer in the watering water
